SANTO STEFANO SQUARE / SEVEN CHURCHES SQUARE
One of the most symbolic squares in city. Overlooked by the Santo Stefano basilica, it is surrounded by Palazzo Isolani with its galleria and the Palazzo Bolognini,
ARCHIGINNASIO
Built in 1562, this was the first headquarter of the university of Bologna. Now it has an inner garden and a library.
SAN PIETRO CATHEDRAL
Since 1184 it is the cathedral of the city. It is the tallest church in Bologna and home of the Bologna bishop.
CAVOUR GALLERIA
Since 60 years, this shopping gallery hosts some of the luxury stores like Louis Vuitton, Prada, Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Tiffany and others. For a break, you can also find the Armani Cafe.
MARGHERITA PARK
The biggest park in Bologna. Established in 1879 in honor of Queen Margherita of Savoy, it has several pathways and a bar chalet inside its lake. It also hosted motorbike races in the past.
MAGGIORE SQUARE
1200 square hostine the Palazzo del podestà ( old Bologna town hall ), Palazzo del Podestà ( Bologna Holy roman Empire headquarter ), Palazzo dei Banchi ( ex Bologna bankers guild ), San Petronio basilica ( biggest church in Bolgona ) and Palazzo d’Accursio ( Bologna town hall ).
TWO TWIN TOWERS
The two medieval towers Garisenda and Asinelli built in 1109 and 1118. Nowdays you can also climb the Asinelli tower.
During the ww2 they were used like observation points for enemy fighters.
FARINI STREET
One of the most important shopping street in Bologna. Here you can fine the Bang & Olufsen, La Perla, Furla, Armani and Hermes stores. It has the most iconic renaissance buildings in town and the hq of the bank of Bologna.
NETTUNO SQUARE
It hosts the old Bologna stock exchange building and the 1563 neptune fountain by the Giambologna artist.
QUADRILATERO AREA
Area composed by Clavature, De Musei, Caprarie, Orefici, Drapperie, Ranocchi and Pescherie Vecchie streets. Established as an open air market for agriculture goods, now it is also a zone with shops and bars.
SAN DOMENICO SQUARE
Square with one of the major church in the city which is the 1228 San Domenico Basilica. On the square you also fine two tombs belonging to two of the Bologna glossatori.
